It was across all times,<\/span>
\nAnd across all lands,<\/span><\/p>\n

That they have suffered,<\/span>
\nBy twisted hands,<\/span><\/p>\n

But never forgotten,<\/span>
\nAre their tales,<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite being censored,<\/span>
\nAttacked, and veiled,<\/span><\/p>\n

And it is but woe,<\/span>
\nThey all share,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet women of the world,<\/span>
\nWill rise and fare,<\/span><\/p>\n

And there are many stories,<\/span>
\nLike the story of Iman,<\/span><\/p>\n

It was at a young age,<\/span>
\nWhen her suffering began,<\/span><\/p>\n

Iman was at her house,<\/span>
\nPlaying with her doll,<\/span><\/p>\n

She was like a flower,<\/span>
\nSoft, and sweet, and small,<\/span><\/p>\n

She was playing all night,<\/span>
\nWith nothing in her mind,<\/span><\/p>\n

But in the next morning,<\/span>
\nIman became a bride,<\/span><\/p>\n

She found her toys were wasted,<\/span>
\nHer childhood washed away,<\/span><\/p>\n

And Iman will be a wife,<\/span>
\nwhile her friends run and play,<\/span><\/p>\n

And then we have the tale,<\/span>
\nOf the suffering of Noor,<\/span><\/p>\n

When she got her education,<\/span>
\nBut of her freedom — unsure,<\/span><\/p>\n

Noor was ecstatic,<\/span>
\nWhen she got her degree,<\/span><\/p>\n

After many years of studying,<\/span>
\nShe thought she’s finally free,<\/span><\/p>\n

So Noor went and started,<\/span>
\nSearching for any type of work,<\/span><\/p>\n

And when she told her father,<\/span>
\nHe stood up and went berserk:<\/span><\/p>\n

“What do you think you’re doing?<\/span>
\nNo girls work in this house,<\/span><\/p>\n

Come, I’ve found someone decent,<\/span>
\nWho’s going to be your spouse,<\/span><\/p>\n

And then we have Mary,<\/span>
\nWho works every single day,<\/span><\/p>\n

To provide for her children,<\/span>
\nFor their father passed away,<\/span><\/p>\n

She can’t have a breath,<\/span>
\nShe can’t even remarry,<\/span><\/p>\n

And none will ever bear,<\/span>
\nThe burdens she has to carry,<\/span><\/p>\n

And when she’s done with work,<\/span>
\nShe teaches, cooks, and cleans,<\/span><\/p>\n

With no one by her side,<\/span>
\nNo one to hear her scream,<\/span><\/p>\n

And Mariana walks,<\/span>
\nHer body limp and bruised,<\/span><\/p>\n

But she can’t speak up,<\/span>
\nAnd say that she’s abused,<\/span><\/p>\n

She tells herself she’s lucky,<\/span>
\nOther women have it worse,<\/span><\/p>\n

Some die when they’re beaten,<\/span>
\nSome view living as a curse,<\/span><\/p>\n

But she can’t help but dream,<\/span>
\nOne day — she escapes it all,<\/span><\/p>\n

And all her scars would heal,<\/span>
\nAnd her tears would cease to fall,<\/span><\/p>\n

Some like Kristiyana,<\/span>
\nHer voice brings but shame,<\/span><\/p>\n

Even when violated,<\/span>
\nShe has herself to blame,<\/span><\/p>\n

She has to endure being silent,<\/span>
\nAnd her peers endure it too,<\/span><\/p>\n

For even if they’re a victim,<\/span>
\nThey’ll never get their due,<\/span><\/p>\n

But they’ll face punishment,<\/span>
\nFor what was done to them,<\/span><\/p>\n

And none will defend them,<\/span>
\nNone the crimes will condemn,<\/span><\/p>\n

And many tales are known,<\/span>
\nAnd many left untold,<\/span><\/p>\n

Suffering was rejected,<\/span>
\nAnd fate is to be controlled,<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the cruel path,<\/span>
\nAnd a future so dark,<\/span><\/p>\n

They held into their hope,<\/span>
\nWhich was but a spark,<\/span><\/p>\n

So that these stories are remembered,<\/span>
\nSo that the present may change,<\/span><\/p>\n

And the right of humanity,<\/span>
\nIs never something strange,<\/span><\/p>\n

Honor to them and their struggle,<\/span>
\nThrough action, or through word,<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus we pay a tribute,<\/span>
\nTo the Women of the World.<\/span><\/p>\n
