The soldier who was in love with Lara
Translated from Arabic Dr. Yousef Hanna | Palestine
By Fathi Muhadub | Tunisia
Before nothingness reached the world
And opened fire on the crowds,
I was in love with you.
Before the death of the pistachio tree
Which was laughing a lot,
Whenever I stared at her beautiful dress,
I was in love with you.
Before the fox snatched my imagination.
Before the crow falls into the temptation.
Before night and day fought under the balcony of my heart.
And the opposites howl in the adjacent hillock.
Before the darkness drinks a red rooster
And woodmen pouring like rain,
In the thick forest of my obsessions.
I was in love with you.
Before God reached his eternal throne.
And repose from Genesis hardship.
Before the possible and impossible fretting
In my head garden.
I was in love with you.
Before fire made man’s glory.
I was in love with you.
Before philosophers fall into captivity.
Before the rose of chaos was formed.
Before the rise of light and blessings
In the ethereal affairs.
I was in love with you.
Before death arrived
To light springs
I was in love with you.
Before the sun escaped in the chariot of the dead.
I used to love you before my death
With a stray shell.
I was in love with you, Lara.
